X-MINING Preventing High Temperatures in Glass Buildings NIR Absorbing Materials

How to keep the comfortable room temperature with large glass window.

Buildings with large windows not only create a bright, open-feeling space, but also have a good view of the interior from the outside, which excel in attracting customers and crime prevention, so they have become widespread in many stores. However, buildings with large windows had to operate powerful air conditioners at full capacity to maintain comfortable room temperatures in midsummer because sunlight penetrates the glass and enters the room.
Sunlight can be prevented by using a thermal blind or curtain, but there were some problems such as making it difficult to see the interior of the store from outside, which would have compromised the design as well as attracting customers and crime prevention.

We wondered if it was possible to combine an open space with a comfortable indoor temperature…?

Our suggestions.

Sumitomo Metal Mining’s Near-Infrared Absorbing Materials CWO™ can cut light of wavelengths between 850 and 1200nm which is the source of sunlight’s heat, and maintain the brightness because of its high transparency. The effect can be exerted by applying a coating on the glass surface or by attaching a thin film.

Taking advantage of these features, we applied Near-Infrared Absorbing materials CWO™ to glass and applied the CWO™ coating processing Window Film to glass, thereby achieving a comfortable environment while maintaining brightness and building design while cutting only the light that causes room temperature rise.

The possibilities are infinite

The ability of our Near-Infrared Absorbing Materials CWO™ such as to prevent room temperature rise in large glass buildings, preserve the aesthetics of buildings and tune them into various forms is also applicable to other fields.

Do you try to realize your creations and ideas with our Near-Infrared Absorbing Materials CWO™?
