X-MINING Tap Density

The Tap Density is the value obtained by following procedure.
1) Putting a certain weight of powder into a container.
2) Tapping the container to fill the gap between particles.
3) Dividing the weight by the volume after tapping.

Bulk density, on the other hand, is the volume of powder of a certain weight divided by the volume gently placed in the container. Therefore, the density has the following relationship.
True density > Tap density > Bulk density
Tap density is sensitive to particle size, size distribution and shape.
If it contains only large particles, it won't pack when tapped, but if it also contains smaller particles that fill the gaps between the particles, the tap density is predicted to increase. This phenomenon is due to a decrease in the void ratio between the particles.
It is also clear that the tap density of particles with rough surfaces and cavities is not much greater than the bulk density.
